Following the d3ath of former President Muhammadu Buhari, President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to London to oversee the repatriation of Buhari’s remains to Nigeria

The announcement was made on Sunday in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. According to the statement, Buhari passed away at approximately 4:30 p.m. in London after a prolonged illness.
President Tinubu has spoken with the former First Lady, Mrs. Aishat Buhari, to personally express his condolences to the family.
In honor of the late leader, Tinubu has ordered that all national flags be flown at half-staff across the country.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, after previously leading as military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
