Bambam has finally broken silence after her phone was stolen during the service of songs held in honour of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, clarifying misconceptions surrounding a viral video that sparked speculation online

The actress revealed that she only discovered her phone was missing after she got into her car following the event. She also addressed a viral clip showing someone removing a phone from her bag, clarifying that the person was her personal assistant and not a thief.

“I’ve seen videos circulating about a lady moving her phone from my bag. That was my personal assistant because that place was rowdy and the bag I was carrying was open. She just thought to remove my phone so that it’s not stolen,” she explained.

According to Bambam, the assistant was unable to reach her due to crowd control around the VIP section, and by the time they reunited after the event, the phone had already gone missing.

She recounted searching for the device and initially believing it was with her assistant before realizing it had likely been stolen while attendees were exchanging greetings and taking photos after the ceremony

Bambam expressed sadness over losing years of personal memories stored on the device, noting that many of her photos, videos and contacts were not backed up.

The actress added that several other people also lost their phones that night, including one of her friends and reportedly a member of Alexx Ekubo’s family.

“I was sad first. I was really sad that my contacts, my videos… I’ve had that phone, it has everything. They’re not even updated on my iCloud, so a lot of my pictures and videos are not backed up,” she said.

“It wasn’t just my phone that was stolen. My friend’s phone, I think even one of Alex’s brother’s phones were taken and another guy. A few of us were looking for our phones that night. It was sad,” she said.

She concluded by urging the public to stop accusing her personal assistant, insisting that the phone disappeared after the event and that the circulating video was recorded before the theft occurred. Bambam said she decided to speak up to prevent misinformation from spreading and to clear her assistant’s name.
