On the TV show Big Brother Naija, a contestant, Sooj gave his family’s old necklace to another contestant, Nelly, to show how much he loves her.
A video that many people saw shows Sooj telling Nelly how he feels while giving her the necklace.
Sooj asked Nelly if she would support him when things get hard. He told her the necklace belonged to his great grandmother, then his grandmother, and then his mother. He brought it to the show by accident but was happy to give it to Nelly.
Nelly said she didn’t know Sooj was so nice. Many people watching the show thought their love might not be real or that only one of them really felt it.
Sooj said to Nelly: “I will stand by you. Do you agree to stand by me in those situations when the going gets rough and the world is against me? Do you promise that you will stand by me no matter the cause?”
Nelly said “Yes” and took the necklace. Sooj believes this made their relationship stronger.
