Davido has blasted Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, after linking his stalled ambassadorship in Mexico to the ongoing World Cup
Omokri had earlier stated that his posting had not yet been activated because Mexico was currently focused on hosting the ongoing World Cup with the United States, adding that diplomatic processes had been slowed by the tournament.
“Mexico has not rejected me, they are focusing on the World Cup right now,” he said.
The comment came after Omokri had previously criticized Davido over his World Cup opening ceremony performance, where the singer publicly referenced the Oyo State abduction case and called for the release of the victims.
Revisiting that earlier criticism, Davido fired back at Omokri on social media, writing:
