Comedian Bovi Ugboma has sparked laughter and reactions at the 12th AMVCA after playfully teasing actor Kunle Remi over a social media conversation about how award plaques are handed out
During the ceremony, Bovi, who was hosting the event, pointed out that every winner received a personalised plaque before throwing a humorous jab at the Nollywood star.
“All winners have their individual awards today. Shout out to Kunle Remi. Winners have always had their individual awards. But I understand Kunle has never won one, so he wouldn’t know,” he joked, drawing loud reactions from the audience.
The remark was linked to a trending online debate that began days earlier after Kunle Remi reacted to a video from the 2026 Oscars showing Michael B. Jordan receiving his engraved award immediately after winning.
Reacting to the clip, Remi had jokingly compared the Oscars to the AMVCA, suggesting that winners at the Nigerian award show usually receive their plaques at a later time instead of instantly on stage.
