Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, a social media influencer and blogger, was briefly detained by the police on Sunday before being released
According to SaharaReporters, VeryDarkMan was released within a couple of hours of his arrest.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Mr. Benneth Igwe, confirmed his release on Sunday evening.
VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Mr. Deji Adeyanju, had earlier disclosed that his client was arrested for exposing an alleged fraudster who defrauded a Nigerian citizen abroad.
Deji Adeyanju stated on his X account, “Our client, @thatverydarkman, was arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing an alleged fraudster.
Instead of arresting the accused fraudster, the police arrested VeryDarkMan on defamation charges.”
