In a surprising turn of events, newly appointed Super Eagles coach Bruno Labbadia has rejected his appointment just three days after being unveiled by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)
As seen on German website Kicker, Labbadia decided against signing a contract with the NFF on Friday, despite a week of negotiations.
The NFF had announced Labbadia’s appointment on Tuesday via their social media handle, stating that they had reached an agreement with the German coach to become the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
According to SaharaReporters, it appears that the announcement was made without a signed contract in place.
Labbadia’s rejection of the appointment brings an end to speculation over who would become the next Super Eagles coach, following the resignation of former coach Finidi George.
The NFF had approved Labbadia’s appointment as the 37th Head Coach of the Super Eagles, but it seems that the deal is now off.
