The immediate past Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Mr Kayode Opeifa was a guest on Politics Today on Channels TV. Opeifa discussed the budget issue rocking the present APC government. Mr Kayode defended President Buhari insisting that the steps taken by the President over the budget issue is the way forward.
“Members of the public should know that passing a budget takes a long process and time.”
Opeifa stressed that the budget came into existence after each minister presented and defended budgets for each ministry. Budgets can’t be passed without ministers, the appointment of ministers came a bit late around October, he said.
Opeifa agreed with the anchor that the government is a product of the party but he insisted that the budget belongs to the government and not the party.
He further explained that different committees need to review the budget before it can be passed.
“The budget must go through different committes at the National assembly and House of Representatives who will now sit together to iron out all issues, that takes a lot of days” said Opeifa.
Mr Opeifa condenmed the statement of the former minister of works Mr Seye Ogunlewe for faulting the APC and the presidency for the budget crisis.
Opeifa has been a guest on several TV stations in recent times and has been talking on National issues.
Popularly known as Sir Kay, he was the most audible voice in the eight years administration of Governor Raji Fashola.
