Rev. Fr. Gerald Ohaeri, a Catholic priest and lecturer at the Spiritan School of Philosophy in Nsukka, Enugu State, has been kidnapped along the Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi expressway
The abduction occurred on Saturday evening, November 30, 2024, as Fr. Ohaeri was returning to Isienu, Nsukka parish from a function in Enugu.
Reports indicate that the kidnappers, disguised as police officers, set up a fake checkpoint before abducting the priest. During the incident, they also shot at the windscreen of a Hilux, but the occupants were not taken, as the deputy governor’s convoy arrived shortly after.
A source revealed, “It was someone inside the Hilux who shouted that the people we thought were policemen were actually kidnappers.”
Fr. Ohaeri’s current whereabouts remain unknown.
