The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced plans to impound all vehicles with tinted windows, citing security concerns

Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, made the announcement during a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

He emphasized that no one has the right to tint their vehicle’s windows, arguing that tinted glasses contribute to lawlessness and hinder public safety.

“We are clamping down on all commercial vehicles and individuals with tinted windows. We need to see people inside their vehicles,” CP Disu stated.

He also shared that many rescued kidnap victims had revealed that tinted windows made it difficult for bystanders to recognize when people were in distress.

Additionally, he pointed out that criminals often use tinted windows and cover their number plates to avoid detection.

CP Disu warned FCT residents that the police would strictly enforce laws regarding tinted windows going forward.
