Born in Cazenovia, New York, Anne’s passion for food was ignited early by her mother’s cooking and the influence of culinary legend Julia Child. After earning her degree from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996, she studied in Italy at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, where she deepened her expertise in Italian cuisine.

Returning to the U.S. in 1998, Burrell trained under renowned chefs like Lidia Bastianich at Felidia and eventually took the helm at Savoy in SoHo. Her wood-fired Mediterranean dishes earned widespread praise and solidified her reputation in the New York culinary scene.

Her rise to television fame began in 2005 as Mario Batali’s sous-chef on Iron Chef America. With her spiky blonde hair, commanding voice, and vibrant personality, she quickly became a fan favorite. In 2008, she launched Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, which ran for nine seasons and earned her an Emmy nomination.
