Tomama, a Nigerian comedienne has made a surprising announcement on her Instagram, asking podcasters to stop inviting her for interviews.
In a video that quickly went viral, she expressed her reluctance to participate in podcasts, despite receiving numerous requests.
Tomama’s main concern seems to be about potentially revealing what she sees as her own insensitivity during these interviews. She drew comparisons to other celebrities who, in her opinion, have sometimes appeared less sensible when speaking on podcasts.
Speaking in pidgin English, Tomama explained, “Public service announcement, I don’t do podcasts because the number of interview requests I’ve received recently is overwhelming. So, I don’t do them.”
She added, “The sense I lack isn’t something I want you to discover on a podcast because, many times when I hear celebrities speaking on podcasts, I think to myself, ‘I used to think this person was sensible.'”
Tomama also addressed requests to discuss topics like marriage, pointing out that she’s not married. When asked to share her journey or inspire younger generations, she had a surprising take: “These younger ones don’t need inspiration. They are the ones who will even inspire us at this point.”
