A Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has warned key witnesses to appear in the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad) or face subpoena

The court had ordered substituted service on witnesses, including Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and others, after Mohbad’s father applied for additional witnesses.
However, only one key witness, Boluwatife Adeyemo (Darosha), was present at the latest sitting.
The court adjourned the hearing until September 30, with the magistrate threatening to issue subpoenas if the witnesses fail to appear.
Mohbad’s family has expressed frustration with the police investigation, accusing them of complicity and relying on witnesses’ views without conducting a thorough investigation.
The family’s legal team criticized the police for not cooperating with their independent autopsy and toxicology test requests.
They also petitioned the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission to remove the officers handling the case due to alleged mishandling. The Police Service Commission has yet to respond.
Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, at age 27, has sparked controversy, with his former record label owner, Naira Marley, and others arrested in connection with his death.
The Lagos State Police Command established a special investigation team to probe the singer’s death, and his body was exhumed for autopsy.
