Do2dtun has criticized Tyla for her speech after winning the Best Afrobeats Award at the VMA
Tyla had expressed concerns about the categorization of African artists under the Afrobeats label, despite her own win in that category.
Do2dtun argued that Tyla should have declined the award or nomination if she felt it didn’t represent her genre, Amapiano.
He also highlighted the distinction between “Afrobeat” and “Afrobeats”, suggesting that the confusion led to Tyla’s win in a category she didn’t identify with.
