The duo was arraigned before the court by the police on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, cyberstalking, and character assassination. The case was filed by the ‘Delta Attack’ team of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.

According to police prosecutor Anthony Iyeye, the defendants and others still at large committed the offences between July 4 and 5, 2025. He alleged that Osama and Udoekwere used computer networks to publish false claims against Mrs. Omowunmi, including displaying placards with the message: “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi.”

Iyeye stated that the acts violated Sections 27 (1)(b)(2) and 24 (1)(a)(b)(2) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

Following their plea, Iyeye requested the court to fix a date for trial and asked that the accused be remanded pending the conclusion of the case.

Defense counsel, Ademola Olabiyi, made an oral application for bail, citing Section 32(3)(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, and explained that she had only just been served with the charge.

However, Justice Kala declined to entertain the oral application, directing the defense to file a formal bail request. He also advised the lawyer to approach the vacation judge, as the court had commenced its annual recess.

The trial has been adjourned to September 25.

One of the charges reads:
“That you, Saheed Jamiu Osama and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, along with others still at large, did intentionally harm the character and reputation of Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, by carrying placards with the inscription, ‘WUNMI KILLED MOHBAD! PERIOD! E NO GO BETTER FOR WUNMI,’ which you knew to be false, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 24 (1)(a)(b)(2) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.”
