Celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest has continued to make the case for Imo State, defending his earlier comments about the economic strength and lifestyle of people from the state.
In a live video on Monday night, the socialite hit back at those who criticised his earlier comparison between Imo and other Igbo states, particularly Anambra.
He said his position was not going to change, pointing to his hospitality business and what he described as the high value of property in Imo State.
Speaking during a live video, he said:
“Anything that wants to happen, let it happen. I have reached the stage where I can say what I want and no one can do anything about it.
“I tell you this: as someone who has built a hospitality empire in my city, Owerri, what have you built in your own city? What is your staking power?
“Lands in Imo State are more expensive than in Anambra State and other parts of Igbo land.
“The land opposite my hotel is sold for ₦3 billion per 1,000 square metres. Where in Igbo land will you see that?
“We have power plants in Imo State to generate our energy. Do you have that in your own state? That’s why if you make money in Anambra State, finish, you will come to Imo State to spend that money because you don’t have the places to enjoy your money in your state.
I will continue to pressure you people. We Imo people are doing so well for ourselves, and what we’re doing, you guys cannot do.”
Cubana Chief Priest’s latest remarks come as a continuation of his argument that Imo has developed a stronger luxury and hospitality economy than other parts of the Southeast.
He particularly took aim at Anambra, questioning the state’s capacity to provide the same level of luxury, entertainment and investment opportunities he believes are available in Imo.
