Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday presented brand-new 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross SUVs to the chairmen of the 20 local government areas in the state
The vehicle handover, held in Abeokuta, added a festive touch to the Christmas celebrations, with the chairmen expressing gratitude for the governor’s gesture.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Governor Abiodun explained that the SUVs were provided to enhance effective governance at the grassroots.

He praised the chairmen for their role in delivering the dividends of democracy and pledged continued support to strengthen local government administration and socio-economic development across the state.
“Our administration is aware of the challenges faced by our people at the grassroots and the obstacles confronting government in delivering essential services,” the governor said. “These vehicles have therefore been provided to facilitate swift and efficient outreach, ensuring that grassroots governance thrives and rural communities enjoy good governance.”
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Folashade Adeyemo, Ogun State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria and Chairperson of Odeda Local Government, hailed the gesture as a timely boost to the Yuletide celebrations. She commended Governor Abiodun for his achievements across education, housing, healthcare, and road infrastructure, noting that his ISEYA mantra has raised the state’s development profile.

“This is a pleasant surprise during Christmas, making the celebration even more memorable,” Adeyemo said. “The chairmen are very grateful, and this support will enhance efficiency in reaching remote communities, monitoring projects, and engaging effectively with the people.”
Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also praised the governor for the provision of the utility vehicles, highlighting that the gesture would strengthen grassroots governance. He urged the local government chairmen to reciprocate the state government’s support by deepening their commitment to serving communities.
