Toyin Abraham went live on Instagram to call out some cinemas over how they are handling ticket sales for her movie Oversabi Aunty
She said certain cinemas are telling audiences the film is sold out when tickets are actually available, and that tickets are being swapped, preventing viewers from seeing her movie and affecting her earnings despite all the effort she put into producing and promoting it.

During the live session, Toyin urged moviegoers to insist on receiving tickets for the correct screening and to verify their tickets in the presence of cinema staff. She said:
“They’ll give you another ticket and say it’s a mistake. They will take you to another hall to watch a different film. Please, when they give you that, tell them no, you want Oversabi Aunty. I have a lot of evidence, but many are afraid to speak up because of bullying. Some cinemas are crazy — they give one person 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. shows. How can the film make money? I produced a good movie, directed it, did publicity, and yet we are given inconvenient showtimes.”
Toyin expressed frustration over how cinemas are scheduling her film, pointing out that giving early morning and late-night shows limits audience turnout and revenue. She appealed to the public and cinema staff to ensure fair treatment for her movie.
