Davido has reacted to Ubi Franklin’s recent comments about fatherhood and raising children from different relationships, adding his own brief response after the music executive spoke about the lessons he has learned from his personal journey.
Franklin recently spoke about his experience as a father during an episode of his podcast, Talks With Ubi Franklin, where he shared advice for young men and encouraged them to think carefully about the choices they make when it comes to relationships and starting a family.
After seeing Franklin’s message, Davido responded with a playful comment, writing:
“For the first time ever Nigeria agrees with @ubifranklinofficial 😂😂😂”.
Franklin’s message came from a personal place. The talent manager, who has four children with different women, explained that while being a father is one of the greatest blessings he has received, there are also challenges that come with managing family responsibilities across different relationships.
He explained that many people often focus on whether a man can provide financially for his children, but there are other realities that come with raising children in separate homes. For him, maintaining peace, communication and understanding between different family situations can sometimes be the more difficult part.
Speaking about the choices he made, Franklin said; “One of the worst decisions you can make as a man is having children with different women.”
He made it clear that his words were not about his children, whom he loves and continues to support. Instead, he was speaking about his own experience and hoping that younger men would consider the future consequences of their decisions.
Franklin also advised men not to create situations that could lead to unnecessary struggles between parents, saying, “Don’t let baby mama drama become part of your life.”
The businessman has always been open about the importance of being present for his children. His family life has been in the public eye over the years, especially because of his previous marriage to actress Lilian Esoro, with whom he shares a son, Jayden.
He also has a daughter named Zaneta from another relationship, another daughter, Ariella, with Nigerian businesswoman Sandra Iheuwa, and a son, Shiloh, with South African woman Nicole Siyo.
Despite the different circumstances surrounding his children’s births, Franklin has repeatedly maintained that his responsibility as a father remains the same. His latest comments were focused on the lessons he has picked up along the way and the advice he wants younger men to take seriously.
Davido’s reaction came with humour, but it also reflected the attention around Franklin’s message. Rather than giving a long response, the singer simply acknowledged the point Franklin was making.
His advice was not about discouraging fatherhood, but about encouraging careful choices and creating the best possible environment for children. As a father himself, Franklin said his biggest hope is that others can learn from his experiences and make decisions that will benefit both themselves and their families.
