Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has raised concern after visiting the family of a young man identified as Oghenemine Ogidi in Delta State, who was allegedly k%lled by police officers.
His visit, according to him, uncovered a heartbreaking pattern of loss suffered by the family.
Gwamnishu described the situation as deeply troubling, saying the victim’s mother shared a painful history of repeated tragedy involving law enforcement.
He explained that the family believes this is not the first time they are experiencing such a loss. During his interaction with the grieving mother, she reportedly revealed that she has now lost two sons under circumstances linked to police operations.
In his account, Gwamnishu said:
“We met with Oghenemine’s mother, and her story is heartbre@king. She revealed that both of her sons were k!ll£d by the Nigeria police. The first was arrested from his home in 2022 and later k!ll£d. The police claimed he di€d in an exchange of gunfire, but that version of events has been questioned. Now, Oghenemine Ogidi has become the second son she has løst under similar circumstances.”
The allegations have added to growing public concern over police conduct, especially in cases involving civilian deaths. While the claims have not yet been independently verified by authorities, they have already sparked emotional reactions online, with many calling for a transparent investigation.
For the bereaved family, however, the situation is not just another headline but a repeated personal tragedy that has left them devastated.
The activist’s visit has since drawn attention to their case, with renewed calls for accountability and answers from the relevant security agencies.
