Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rearrested Abdulaziz, son of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja after his father refused to complete standard bail procedures for his release
The incident occurred on Friday when court bailiffs from the Federal High Court arrived at the prison with fully processed bail documents to secure Abdulaziz’s freedom.

Sources said Malami allegedly demanded that his son be quietly removed from the facility, bypassing the usual formalities. Security officials, who had placed the prison under heightened surveillance, were reportedly monitoring all movements in and out after intelligence suggested attempts to orchestrate Abdulaziz’s release away from public scrutiny.
DSS operatives stationed around the correctional centre tracked every vehicle exiting the facility. Abdulaziz was intercepted and rearrested shortly after being handed over to those facilitating his release.
“This happened on Friday; the bailiffs came with fully processed bail papers, but Malami refused to follow procedures and urged that his son be sneaked out. The DSS, however, profiled all cars leaving and rearrested him,” a source familiar with the matter said.
A security insider added that the operation reflects rising concerns within the intelligence community over what they described as “irregular efforts” in the former attorney-general’s handling of his son’s release.
