Eat your award – Lilian Afegbai reacts to AMVCA snub

Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has publicly criticised the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards over her absence from the 2026 nominees list

The nominations for the 12th edition of the awards were recently released, with her co-star Bimbo Akintola securing a spot in the Best Lead Actress category for her role in the series To Kill A Monkey.

Afegbai, however, expressed disappointment at being overlooked, insisting that her portrayal of Idia in the same production stood out and gained significant attention.

Despite her frustration, she maintained that recognition from the awards body is not essential to her, suggesting she places little importance on such validation.

She wrote on her X handle:

“AMVCA smh. I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason.

“I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear: Nobody trended like Idia from TKAM last year. Her acting was 100. You guys can eat your award.”
