Malam Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, is currently at the Federal High Court in Kaduna where his bail application is set to be heard
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had earlier arraigned him before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa on a 10-count charge involving alleged conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.
He was brought before the court after spending over a month in detention.
The court had fixed March 31, 2026, for the hearing of pending applications, including his bail request.
However, on March 27, 2026, the anti-corruption agency granted him temporary release on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummar El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt.
