Popular content creator, Egungun of Lagos has come under fire for a birthday message to his wife, Pashotah on Instagram
In the post, Egungun recounted a personal story from a decade ago, revealing that he almost introduced his wife to a richer friend who had offered him ₦3,000 to bring her over.
He wrote;
“10 years ago I wanted to link you up with my friend wey get money pass me for hotel because he say make I go find babe for am for Yabatech. Honestly I’m a mumu, I no know say na you I go still marry. This guy wan literally give me ₦3k to bring you to his house in Ajah. HAPPY BDAY MY LOVE. Help me wish her oooo, she lady really tried o @pashotah.”
While the message was likely meant to be humorous and reflective, it sparked criticism online, with many calling the post inappropriate and disrespectful for a birthday tribute.
Some social media users felt the caption diminished the dignity of his wife, accusing him of oversharing and embarrassing her.
One comment read, “You were going to hook her up with another guy for money? This is not the kind of story to share on her birthday.”
Another added, “This might be funny to you, but publicly saying this about your wife is just wrong.”
