Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator SeyiLaw has taken a swipe at businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose following Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s decisive victory in the Ekiti State governorship election.
Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured a resounding win in the election held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, polling more than 319,000 votes to defeat candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The victory was particularly significant as it made Oyebanji the first governor since the creation of Ekiti State to win a second consecutive term in office.
Shortly after the election results were announced, SeyiLaw celebrated the outcome on social media with a post that appeared to be directed at Isaac Fayose, one of the governor’s outspoken critics ahead of the poll.
“It is not good to beat a man when he is down,” the comedian wrote before tagging Fayose and asking, “@isaacfayoseoriginal_, how far with Ekiti State Governorship election?”
He went on to celebrate the governor’s achievement in a mix of English and Yoruba, writing:
“BAO lekansi. Governor BAO becomes the first Governor since the creation of Ekiti State to win a second consecutive term. BAO jor, BAO jare.”
Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, had consistently opposed Oyebanji’s re-election bid in the months leading up to the election. He repeatedly criticised the administration’s performance and urged voters to reject the governor at the polls.
With Oyebanji now securing a historic second term, SeyiLaw’s remarks were widely seen as a direct response to Fayose’s pre-election stance against the governor.
