Nigerian singer Spyro has advised men to be more intentional about their finances, warning against spending money recklessly in an effort to impress women.
The singer shared the message during a stage performance, where he paused to speak to the audience about financial discipline, saving and long-term wealth creation.
“If you think you are here and you are spending money on women, you are wasting your time,” Spyro told the crowd.
He clarified that his comments were not directed at men who responsibly take care of their partners. According to him, the real issue is unnecessary spending that leaves people with little to show for their hard work.
Reflecting on his personal experience, the singer said difficult moments taught him the importance of focusing on work and making smart financial decisions.
Spyro explained that when success and financial opportunities came his way, he chose to channel much of his earnings into investments rather than a flashy lifestyle. He believes that decision has helped protect him from financial struggles over time.
The singer also spoke about how people’s attitudes towards him changed after he became successful.
Spyro maintained that his message is ultimately about encouraging young men to prioritize hard work, financial responsibility and investments instead of seeking validation through excessive spending.
According to the singer, building a solid financial future should take precedence over trying to impress others with money.
“When I blow, all these fresh girls began entering my DM. They would even promise to take me to Dubai and pay the bill. These are the girls that I used to crush on when I was broke. When money finished from my hand, I didn’t see anybody,” he said. “As a man, put your head into work. When you start to make money, save up, invest,” he said.
