Former Manchester United and France defender Patrice Evra has been found guilty of neglecting his family and neglecting his financial responsibilities
He was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay his ex-wife, Sandra Evra, €4,000 in moral damages and €2,000 in legal costs.
The court ruled that Evra had abandoned his wife and two children from May 2021 to September 2023, accumulating €969,000 in unpaid alimony.
Patrice Evra’s attorney, Jerome Boursica, revealed that his client has filed an appeal, citing that he had provided his ex-wife with a luxurious lifestyle, including a house with a swimming pool, and lent her nearly €2 million for her daily expenses, which she refuses to return.
The divorce followed reports of Evra’s infidelity with his current fiancée, Margaux Alexandra, with whom he has two children.
The appeal process is ongoing, and the case has shed light on the complex and often contentious nature of high-profile divorces.
