Senator Ned Nwoko, has vowed to take legal action against social media influencer, Timothy Gabriel, popularly known as Tuma, over what he described as defamatory claims aimed at damaging the reputation of both himself and his wife, actress Regina Daniels

In a statement released on Saturday by the Ned Nwoko Media Directorate, the senator confirmed that legal proceedings have already commenced.
Nwoko said Tuma had not only made baseless allegations against him and his wife but had also dared them to respond and initiate legal steps—an open challenge he is now taking up.
“No one has the right to make vulgar and unfounded accusations and then hide behind social media or public demonstrations to avoid accountability,” the statement said.
The senator described Tuma’s actions as reckless and malicious, accusing him of weaponizing his online following to spread false narratives and incite public outrage.
“Gabriel has consistently peddled defamatory lies about Regina Daniels and me, clearly intending to harm our reputations. There’s no democracy that permits free speech to be abused for defamation or blackmail,” he said.
Nwoko warned that the internet is not beyond the reach of the law and that anyone using it to destroy others through lies would be held accountable under Nigerian legal statutes.
He disclosed that both he and Regina Daniels are being represented by a legal team pursuing civil and criminal defamation charges against Tuma and any others complicit in the alleged smear campaign.
“We have overwhelming evidence. His false claims about paternity, morality, and other personal matters are not only slanderous—they are dangerous and criminal.
“Mr. Gabriel and anyone backing this conduct should prepare to face the full weight of the law. This will not be fought online but in court, where facts, evidence, and justice matter,” he added.
He concluded by assuring the public that defamatory content will not be mistaken for activism, and the courts will firmly draw that distinction.
