A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to 10 protesters arrested and detained for alleged treason and other charges related to the #EndBadGovernance movement
Justice Emeka Nwite ruled that the defendants, who claimed to be peaceful protesters, should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The bail was set at N10 million each with one surety, who must be a resident of Abuja and own property in the city.
According to PUNCH, the defendants must also deposit their international passports, recent passport photographs, and documents of their properties with the court registrar.
The court ordered the defendants to refrain from participating in public rallies or protests throughout their trial, which is set to begin on September 27.
The defendants face charges including alleged treason, conspiracy, and inciting mutiny, but have pleaded not guilty.
