Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, has declared that Fela Anikulapo Kuti is the only artist greater than himself
The “Ye” hitmaker made the statement during a live session with American streamer and producer PlaqueBoyMax, following a humorous reaction to a gift from Davido during the broadcast.
In the clip, Burna Boy singled out Fela Kuti as the ultimate legend, placing him above other Nigerian stars such as Wizkid, Davido, and 2Baba.
The remarks come shortly after Burna Boy trended online during what would have been Fela’s 87th posthumous birthday, when fans noted several of Burna Boy’s songs that sampled the Afrobeat icon’s music. Many urged him to pay homage to Fela Kuti.
Speaking on the live stream, Burna Boy said, “He (Fela Kuti) is the king, bro. You get me? He is the only one greater than me, he is the only one.”
