Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has clarified that her invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers for the commissioning of projects in her constituency followed proper legislative procedure
On Thursday, just two months after her reinstatement from suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan extended the invitation to Akpabio and fellow senators to attend the commissioning events marking her second year in office.

She emphasized that the invitation was submitted through the presiding officer, in accordance with Senate protocol, and formally requested that it be read on the Senate floor.
“Today, as is customary for announcements of this nature, I wrote a letter to the Senate through the presiding officer to the Senate President to read on the floor,” she said.
“I issued the invitation so it wouldn’t appear that I was celebrating in isolation. I’m a progressive person. Even with ongoing court cases, I continue to perform my duties in the chamber and adhere to proper procedures.”
The senator added that her actions reflect a commitment to due process and respect for institutional norms, stressing that the project inaugurations and celebration of her accomplishments were focused on public service rather than personal recognition.
