The incident reportedly unfolded between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM on the eighth day of a nine-day shoot. At the time, the team was wrapping up at one location and preparing to move to their final setup. According to the Assistant Director, the tension began during a routine camera arrangement involving two units—Camera A positioned outside and Camera B inside the filming location.

While the Director of Photography (DP) and 1st A.D. were still calibrating Camera B, the director unexpectedly began filming with Camera A without alerting the rest of the team.

“I was banging on the door so they could let the DP out to check the frame,” the Assistant Director recounted. “When Femi Branch shouted that they were already filming, I asked what they were shooting when we hadn’t even set the frame properly.”

The exchange reportedly turned heated. Branch allegedly insulted the Assistant Director, saying his “head is not correct.” The 1st A.D. responded by asserting his authority to pause filming if procedures were not followed.

“He got angry and started yelling at me,” the AD said. “As he stormed in, I told him he couldn’t intimidate me. That’s when he hit me.”

The confrontation shocked the crew, many of whom stood by the 1st A.D. When production moved to the next location at Lekki Conservation Centre, filming came to a halt as the team demanded an apology from the actor before resuming work.

“When he got to the new set and was asked to apologize, he refused and attempted to leave,” the Assistant Director added. “The crew locked the gate so he couldn’t walk away from the situation.”

With mounting production delays and tensions rising, the Executive Producer was forced to step in. Facing pressure from an upset crew and a tight schedule, Branch eventually apologized to the Assistant Director and the rest of the team, allowing filming to continue.

The incident has ignited debate across Nollywood circles about respect on set, professionalism, and the treatment of crew members. The united response by the crew has been praised as a bold stand against on-set intimidation.

As of the time of reporting, Femi Branch has not publicly addressed the accusations. Though the project has since concluded, the controversy remains a major talking point in the industry.
