Property and goods worth millions of naira were this morning destroyed when a fire engulfed a factory in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State
The blaze, which reportedly consumed large quantities of tissue paper and baby products, including diapers, started around 5:30 am.
Resident Obinna Okoye said the fire caught everyone off guard, as most people were still asleep when it began. He added that firefighters arrived quickly to contain the flames.
“The fire service men are still trying to quench the fire. You know how inflammable pampers and tissue papers can be,” Okoye said.
The Nnewi zone Fire Service Commander, F. Jerry, confirmed the incident, stating that the situation had been brought under control. He added that no casualties were recorded, though the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
