First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦1 billion, along with food items and clothing to victims of violent clashes in Plateau State

The donation was made on behalf of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) during her visit to the state, where she expressed solidarity with affected communities. The gesture was announced in a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, on Wednesday.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Tinubu appealed to elders and community leaders to actively pursue peace and prevent further bloodshed.
“I come in as a mother whose heart bleeds. I pray this will be the last time I have to visit Plateau for such a tragic reason. Do not give room to the serpent to strike again—mend the broken edge. This is enough. Nigeria is a beautiful country, and I pray Plateau remains the land of peace and tourism,” she said.
She also called on men to protect women and children, urging them to ensure that normal life, including farming and trade, can resume. Her message to the youth was one of unity and peaceful coexistence.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who received the donation, assured the First Lady that the funds would be disbursed transparently and reach the intended victims.
“Wherever the edge has been broken, we will mend it. I take full responsibility for the funds. No elite will hijack it—we will ensure it goes to those it’s meant for,” Mutfwang stated.
The event was attended by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, market leaders, and security agency representatives.
