Jurgen Klopp has officially been appointed as the new head coach of Germany, ending his break from management to take charge of the national team
The former Liverpool manager takes over following Julian Nagelsmann’s resignation after Germany’s disappointing performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Germany’s campaign ended in the Round of 16 after a surprise penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay, a result that marked the nation’s first-ever loss in a World Cup shootout and ultimately led to Nagelsmann stepping down.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed Klopp’s appointment with his trademark “Here we go!”, signalling that the deal had been completed.
Klopp had been serving as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull before accepting Germany’s offer to return to coaching.
Speaking to Magenta TV, the 59-year-old revealed that talks over the role progressed quickly, paving the way for him to begin a new chapter with the German national team.
