Governor Umo Eno today visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja
He was there to discuss recent developments and the overall situation in Akwa Ibom State.
The Governor who formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on June 6, 2025, said his move followed three months of consultations with key stakeholders in the state.

While expressing gratitude to the PDP for its support during his tenure, Eno described his defection as a forward-looking step aimed at strengthening the state’s alignment with the Federal Government. He cited his admiration for President Tinubu and the need to support Godswill Akpabio as motivating factors behind the switch.
“After completing the rounds of my consultation as your servant whom you have elected to serve, I have decided to progressively move to the APC,” Eno said.
“We are joining the APC in the interest of the state, out of admiration and respect for President Tinubu, and to provide the needed support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio. We are not joining from a position of weakness but from strength, and to align our state with the centre.”
He reassured residents that his commitment to serving Akwa Ibom State remains unwavering, regardless of his political affiliation.
