Savannah Guthrie, NBC “Today” anchor, and her family say they are ready to pay a ransom to bring home their 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who was abducted late last month.
In a video released Saturday afternoon, the NBC “Today” anchor and her relatives spoke directly to the alleged abductors, saying they received the message and will meet the financial demand.
Nancy was last seen after a family member dropped her off at her Tucson home on Saturday, January 31. Days later, multiple news outlets including ours received an alleged ransom note outlining two deadlines tied to her release.
The first deadline passed Thursday at 5 p.m., accompanied by changes to the demands. A second and final deadline is set for Monday, February 9.
Earlier, the family publicly requested proof of life before agreeing to pay.
It remains unclear whether such confirmation was received, but the tone of the new video suggests the family now believes the threat is real and immediate.
On Friday, Harvey Levin analyzed clues from the ransom note, mapping out a potential geographic area where Nancy could be held, based on travel time and logistical details mentioned in the message.
As the clock ticks toward Monday’s deadline, the family’s plea is clear: they want Nancy home safely.
