Kiss, the iconic hard rock band, has sold its brand and songs for a whopping $300 million to Stockholm-based Pophouse Entertainment. This move signifies the band’s retirement from live performances as part of their End of the Road World Tour.
Similar to deals made by other music legends like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, the specifics of the Kiss deal remain undisclosed but are believed to be in line with the sale of British band Genesis’ catalogue.
Pophouse Entertainment will now have ownership not only of Kiss’ music rights but also of its entire brand and intellectual property, paving the way for future AI-generated content. Kiss, founded in 1973 by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, gained fame for their iconic face paint and hits like “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “God of Thunder.”
Gene Simmons emphasized the collaborative nature of the deal, highlighting the importance of partnering with the right people. Both he and Paul Stanley will remain closely involved in the brand’s ongoing development.
Known for its extensive range of branded products, Kiss has ventured into diverse markets, from coffee to coffins. However, even with their knack for business, Simmons hinted that there might be limits to what they would sell, suggesting that some things are off the table despite the allure of more money.
