Gospel minister, Mike Bamiloye has defended Pastor E.A. Adeboye amid criticism from some Nigerians over his perceived silence on recent insecurity challenges in the country
Some Nigerians had called on the General Overseer to lead or join protests over the rising security concerns, but Bamiloye dismissed the expectation as unrealistic given Adeboye’s age and spiritual calling.

He argued that it would not be appropriate to expect an 84-year-old religious leader to spearhead street protests against government policies.
Bamiloye also clarified claims that Adeboye had previously led protests against the Goodluck Jonathan administration, explaining that such actions were carried out under directives from Christian bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), rather than personal initiative.
He wrote: “This is what he said. Many bloggers saw this, but they would project it onto others. But he spoke against the Evils.
And for all those who are expecting an 84-year-old man, Servant of God, to lead a Protest against a Government, this does not make sense by virtue of his age and by the Mandate of His Calling.
And for all those who said he led a Protest against Jonathan on February 2nd 2010, it was the instruction of the CAN and PFN for every church to stage a protest against INSECURITY in the nation, and he complied and led his denomination too, just as some other churches did.
Our major responsibility as the Church of God is to continually pray for the peace of our Nation and the intervention of God in the Government. I TIMOTHY 2:1-3″.
