Temi Otedola, the daughter of billionaire businessman and wife of singer Eazi , says she has no problem admitting she benefited from privilege of being born into a wealthy home.
Reflecting on her childhood and the opportunities she had growing up during a conversation with her husband, Temi said she has never understood why some people shy away from acknowledging the advantages they were born into.
“You can never catch me off or on camera saying that I am not a Nepo baby. I find it so crzy when people don’t admit to the advantage. At the end of the day, I was given a leg up in life, and I made the most of it. I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to say that it because they feel it discounts what they have done in their life. At the end of the day, you got into rooms more easily. You don’t have to be famous to be privileged. Being a Nepo baby means you’ve been afforded advantages in life that allowed you to break in. That is an unfair advantage.”
For Temi, acknowledging privilege does not diminish anyone’s achievements. Instead, she believes it is simply an honest recognition that some people begin life with opportunities, access and connections that make it easier to get through doors that others may have to work much harder to open.
