Nollywood actress Habibat Jinad has shared her thoughts on staying genuine in a world where, according to her, many people choose to act differently from who they really are.
In a recent reflection, she expressed that she does not understand or practice what is popularly referred to as “oju aye,” a term often used to describe showing off or living for appearances.
She emphasized her preference for honesty and simplicity in her dealings with people, saying:
“I wish I could learn how to do eye service.
I don’t know how to do oju aiye (pretense); it’s not in my blood. You dey for me, I dey for you.People who can’t stand on their own na them dey do oju aiye pass.
I don’t know how to fake.
No fake zone”.
Her comments indicates her belief in mutual loyalty and authenticity, while distancing herself from pretense or socially performative behavior.
