I Go Save calls for Sowore’s release

Comedian I Go Save has called for the release of activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.

He criticized what he described as the increasing visibility of operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in matters involving outspoken critics of those in power.

In a post shared online, the comedian reflected on how he perceived the DSS while growing up, noting that the agency was once largely unseen by the public.

“Growing up, I only used to hear about the DSS. I never saw them, nor did I know what they looked like. In my mind, they were almost mythical like figures you only saw in pictures.

“But alas, these days, you’re more likely to see a DSS operative than a POS operator. Every little thing now seems to attract them, especially when it’s time to silence outspoken voices on behalf of the oppressors.

“Gbam! Make una free Sowore now!” he wrote.

The comedian’s call comes as Sowore remains in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre following an order by a Federal High Court in Abuja. The activist is facing charges of alleged cybercrime and criminal defamation in a case filed by the DSS over comments he made about President Bola Tinubu. Although he asked the court to reverse the decision revoking his bail, Justice Mohammed Umar reserved ruling on the application until June 30 and ordered that he remain in custody until then.
