Hours after Davido challenged artists to prove they have more hit songs than him for $1 million, Portable has stepped forward with a claim of his own.
Speaking during a livestream with Darvel, Davido had said he was ready to put $1 million cash on the line against anyone who could prove they had more hits than him.
He said:
“I’ll put up a million dollars. I’ll do it versus anybody. A million dollars cash. Nobody got more hits than me. Cash,” Davido said.
Portable has now disputed that claim, insisting that he has more hit songs than the Afrobeats star.
In a post on his page, Portable said:
“I’m here to challenge Davido, say I get hit song pass am. My featuring, my single was a hit. And Olamide Baddo was a hit maker. He hit me, he gifted me hit. Yes, he gave me a feature, just like Skepta. Skepta gave me a feature. They gave me a hit.
“I get hit pass Davido oo. Na money just remain to buy luxury cars like Lambo and the rest. Na everyday me I dey sing hit.”
Portable pointed to his collaborations with Olamide and Skepta as part of his argument, while also insisting that his solo songs have contributed to his catalogue of hits.
His breakthrough came with “Zazoo Zehh,” a collaboration with Olamide and Poco Lee, which helped establish him as a major name in Nigeria’s street-pop scene. He later worked with Skepta on “Tony Montana,” adding another international collaboration to his catalogue.
While Davido has a much longer career and an extensive list of major records, Portable believes his own catalogue is strong enough to challenge the singer’s claim.
