Singer, Ice Prince has opened up about his difficult childhood as an orphan
The popular Nigerian rapper shared that his life took a tough turn after losing his father at the age of 11 and his mother when he was 21.
In a recent appearance on the ‘Listen’ podcast, Ice Prince revealed how he had to take on various menial jobs to support himself through school, but due to financial constraints, he was unable to attend university. He mentioned that he missed out on his university admission because he couldn’t raise N20,000 in time.
Reflecting on his journey, Ice Prince emphasized the challenges he faced, saying, “I don’t have a mother or father. I’m an only son, and that’s quite tough. I lost my dad at 11 and my mum at 21 or 22. I don’t have any uncles, aunts, godparents—just God.”
He added, “I want people to look at my story and understand that if I can succeed, no one has an excuse to fail. I spent at least three weeks at home every term because of school fees. I couldn’t pay the N20,000 in time, and that’s how I lost my university admission.”
