Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has publicly identified himself as both an Islamist and a jihadist
Speaking about his religious beliefs, Dokubo explained that his current name reflects his faith and personal convictions. In a video that quickly went viral, he stated: “I’m a Jihadist, my name is Mujahed, he who carries out Jihad, that is what it means in Arabic.”
He described the name as one he deliberately chose to represent his identity. “That is the name I adopted,” he said, stressing that it holds significant personal meaning.
Dokubo also highlighted his unwavering commitment to Islam, asserting that he practices the religion openly and without fear. “Listen to me very well, I’m an Islamist, I’m a Muslim without apologist and fear,” he added.
Known for his candid views on national matters and Niger Delta issues, Dokubo continues to attract attention for his outspoken stances.
