Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep admiration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing their long-standing political alliance as a source of personal pride and national significance
In a telephone call on Friday, Buhari congratulated Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, offering prayers for his continued good health, long life, and the success of his administration.
“When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to ourselves and the country,” Buhari told Tinubu during the call.
Details of Buhari’s conversation with the President was contained in a post by his spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, on his verified X handle, @GarShehu, on Saturday.
Reflecting on their political journey, Buhari acknowledged Tinubu’s instrumental role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which led to his two-term presidency after multiple failed attempts.
He credited Tinubu and other party leaders for their contributions in securing victory for the APC once again, now with Tinubu at the helm.
“My family and I remain indebted to President Tinubu and other leaders of the party for their invaluable contributions toward the creation of the APC, which catapulted me to the presidency.
“No doubt, the annals of the country will not be complete without recognizing the varied and numerous roles of President Tinubu—as an entrepreneur, a party stalwart, a staunch activist, an organizer, a builder, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections. I am truly proud of my association with the Asiwaju,” Buhari said.
