The clarification was made on Tuesday by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, during a media briefing in Abuja.

Olumekun explained that while the commission has received numerous letters of intent from groups seeking to form political parties, none—including ADA—has fulfilled the conditions required to proceed to the formal application stage.

“We have received many letters of intent, but none qualifies as a formal application yet. These groups must first meet the stipulated criteria before moving forward,” he stated.

Sources also revealed that the ADA promoters made a procedural error by omitting the word “electoral” in their letter addressed to the INEC Chairman, further complicating their request.
