The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Zone 6, Abuja

He was brought before the court on Tuesday by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Dressed in all black, Isah faced charges of inciting public disturbance and impersonating a public officer, stemming from a protracted leadership crisis within NANS.
His arrest followed reports of an assault allegedly carried out by a rival faction of the student body, which Isah and his lawyers claim is backed by President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
Isah’s counsel, Marshal Abubakar of Falana & Falana Chambers, told SaharaReporters that his client was charged with offences related to disturbing public peace and impersonation
“The DSS charged Atiku Isah with inciting students to breach the peace at a lawful student assembly and disrupting a meeting of individuals they claimed were the ‘elected’ leadership of NANS,” Abubakar said.
He added that Isah was also accused of falsely presenting himself as NANS president amid an unresolved leadership dispute.
The court granted Isah bail in the sum of ₦5 million with one surety in the same amount. The surety must be a resident of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), though no additional conditions were imposed.
