Members of the South West wing of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) took to the streets in the Maryland area of Lagos on Monday to protest the killing of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khameini, who reportedly died following coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel in Iran
The demonstrators denounced the attack, blaming the US for what they described as deliberate aggression against Iran. They also criticised the administration of President Donald Trump, accusing it of interfering in the affairs of independent nations.

Addressing reporters during the procession, the group’s South West coordinator, Muftau Zakariya, said the march was organised to register their displeasure over what they termed the invasion of sovereign states.
“I said to you that nothing good is coming from the US intervention. It is only interested in their economic gains and not minding the consequences thereafter,” Zakariya stated.

The development has sparked protests beyond Nigeria, with demonstrations reported in Iran and India. Just a day earlier, thousands of IMN supporters had rallied across several northern cities, condemning Khameini’s killing. Protesters were seen waving Palestinian flags and chanting “death to America and Israel” as well as “Allahu Akbar” (“God is Great”).
