Israel has disabled GPS over a possible Iran threat amidst the escalating tensions with Iran, it has taken steps to ensure its defence across parts of the country to thwart potential missile and drone attacks.
The move follows an airstrike on Iran’s consulate in Syria, suspected to be carried out by Israel, resulting in casualties including a senior general.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have halted leave for soldiers in combat units and called up reservists for air defence support, anticipating a possible Iranian retaliation, particularly on Quds Day, observed during Ramadan.
To disrupt enemy weapons relying on GPS, Israelis experienced widespread GPS interference, causing navigation apps to malfunction.
The IDF confirmed the use of GPS blocking, urging citizens to manually set their location for rocket attack alerts.
The disruption, already present in northern Israel near the Lebanese border, has extended to major cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Israeli authorities also urged against panic buying, emphasizing orderly updates on any developments.
